Minutes from meeting on 6-18-09, 7:00 p.m. Extension Office

Members present: Guy Gould, Mike Wood, George Bailey, Anita Bailey

1. Lookout Pass Hiawatha Trail is offering free passes and shuttle bus tickets to Chamber members, spouses, and children on June 28, 2009. An e-mail has been sent to Chamber members, and another will be sent next week.

2. Minutes from 5-21-09 were read and approved.

3. George explained the Summer Recreation Map, which is printed in the TourMontana magazine. The cost to the Chamber is $1500 for 4 full pages in the magazine, which distributes 20,000 copies.

4. Golf Tournament - scheduled for June 27. Guy reported that letters of invitation have been mailed out and it has been advertised on KPAX. Five teams have signed up, several prizes have been donated, food has been planned. George and Guy will call people to get additional prizes, teams, hole sponsors, and volunteers for cooking and check-in.

5. Blanket Liability Insurance – Jim Hollenback has reported that the cost is $300 for 2 events.

6. Election of Officers – It was decided that election of officers should be table until the next meeting. Anita will get a list of those willing to serve. George Bailey has been acting president and Anita Bailey has been acting secretary since the February meeting. Positions that need to be filled are: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer. Guy emphasized the need for the Chamber to track the finances and give a report at meetings. This will be handled by the soon-to-be-elected treasurer.

7. EPA grant – Mike announced that a grant may be available to the Chamber for the purpose of hiring someone to work with the EPA, getting documents, and organization communication with community regarding the Superfund cleanup. George and Mike will work on this.

8. Chamber meetings – Ideas for future activities, meetings, times, and locations was discussed. It was decided that, for the time being, it would be best to be consistent with the time, date, and location for meetings (3rd Thursday of the month, 7:00 p.m., Extension Office). Anita will take care of notifying members of meeting times & activities and publicity for meeting times. Ideas for future meetings, include meetings held in different Mineral County communities, engage a speaker at meetings, and put on a “business after hours” activity.

9. Chamber applications – Anita handed out applications for Chamber membership. These were also e-mailed to Chamber members. Anita will work on updating the Chamber membership list.

10. Meeting adjourned at 8:09 p.m.
