NO MORE WAITING. If you missed the January meeting of the Mineral County Chamber of Commerce, we've got highlights. Outgoing Chamber President Anita Bailey has once again volunteered her time to the cause of helping our county's economy and sense of community by typing up the minutes (THANK YOU ANITA !). So without further adieu: Highlights of January Chamber meeting.
--Jennifer Straughan, organizer of 2013 Trail Rail Run, explained the specifics of the 50-mile, 50k, 30k, & 10k runs which will take place on June 22. The 50-mile starts in Mullan, ID, the other runs begin at various points along the Old Milwaukee or Northern Pacific Railroad grades in Montana. All runs will end at the St. Regis Park. This event is being advertised nationally and is expected to bring in running enthusiasts and their families from all over the country. Jennifer encourages our local businesses to promote themselves through providing items in the runners' race bags, discounts at their businesses, etc. Contact Jennifer for information on ways you can promote your business and, at the same time, support the Trail Rail Run. --Old Schoolhouse Rock Car Show & Swap Meet, June 1 - Chamber will again co-sponsor this event. --Business Directory - Finalizing and should be ready to go to press by the end of the month. Chamber received $400 grant from Community Foundation to help defray printing costs. Some businesses still need to pay for their ad. Money received so far is short of what is needed to print & distribute the booklets.
--Winterfest/Christmas Stroll - Plans are in the works to replace Superior's downtown Christmas decorations and have them lighted.
--Membership - 29 businesses so far have paid dues for 2013. A new member benefit this year will be a picture ad for your business on the Chamber website homepage (www.MontanaRockies.org), embedded in the homepage slideshow for a nominal fee. Details to follow. Next Chamber meeting will be Thursday, February 20, 7:00 p.m.
Featured Speaker: Bob Mahon as speaker. Bob was recently named Crime Prevention Officer for the Mineral County Sheriff's Office and coordinates the Neighborhood Watch Program.
