Jim McGowan will talk about building a community marketing campaign--how area businesses can join together to market their area in print and on the Internet. He will also show examples of Montana communities that are already doing so. "I'll be talking about opportunities that the Internet provides to communities that work together," Jim said.
He plans to offer case studies describing national advertising
campaigns, demonstrating how different tourism organizations partnered together
and shared the advertising costs. He said he will bring a laptop computer and
projector to demonstrate live community pages, such as the pages developed for
Bigfork. "It's about how to use print and online advertising to market
communities, and how together those dollars will go further than working on
their own," he explained.
Businesses in Mineral County, with its prime location along I-90,
can pool resources to help market the area as a destination setting, he
suggested. Businesses need to consider where its visitors come from, and where
they consume their news. There could be a conscious effort to track license
plates, he suggested.
His talk will cover "the elements of how to build a
community marketing campaign, and how to get the message out without spending a
lot of money," he said. For the latest information about Jim McGowan and
other upcoming presentations, contact any Chamber official, or check the
